Axes used to be Mike's favorite item to make. Knives are also fun to make however, over time, his favorite thing about the industry has become teaching other people how to blacksmith. His main shop is out of Becker, where he lives, and now has a workshop here at the Hairy Mosquito!
AboutMike Hoffmann
spent his childhood in St. Cloud learning how to make tools with his father in the garage. Blacksmithing was in the young boy’s blood. He stuck with it and eventually became a full-time blacksmith and machinist by trade, touring different festivals and teaching others his craft. Mike also participates in 1800's fur trade/period reenactments for over 20 years. |
ClassesMike's has been blacksmithing for almost 20 years and teaches
on average about 150 students, per year. Classes are available for women and men of all ages. Many classes include generations of families as students. For more info click here. |
